TIP's
Industry Advisors
TIP
is managed and directed by leaders from Georgia's traditional industries.
Each of the three industries formed an advisory board to set TIP's
strategic direction. The three boards have their own identities
within their respecitve industry sectors:
Industry
leadership is crucial to TIP's success:
- TIP's
industry groups meet regularly to discuss and set priorities for
critical competitiveness needs that impact Georgia's traditional
industries. All TIP research work aims to solve widespread problems
threatening the industries' viability. TIP research is helping
improve the industries' manufacturing processes and automation,
conservation of natural resources, environmental compliance, product
safety, and product quality.
- Industry
advisors select and manage every project funded by TIP, ensuring
that state and industry dollars are invested wisely. Once each
year, TIP requests project proposals from faculty and researchers
at the University System of Georgia. TIP's industry advisors review
as many as 100 proposals to select approximately 40 projects for
funding each year.
- Georgia
companies participate in every research project funded by TIP
- via project leadership and co-funding of all research work.
In many cases, research-and-development work is conducted at industry
sites across the state.
